ZZ plant has a well-deserved reputation for being one of the easiest houseplants to grow thanks to its tolerance to low light, low humidity, and infrequent waterings. • ZZ plant tolerates being rootbound better than most other plants, but it will be happiest (and grow faster) if you repot it as needed every year or two.

Zamioculcas zamiifolia

Native to areas of Africa, ZZ plant is an incredibly durable houseplant that can go weeks without water if it needs to. It stores moisture both in its thick leaves and potato-like tubers. It’s related to many other popular houseplants in the aroid family, including pothos, philodendron, monstera, and aglaonema. If you’re looking for a more stylish version of ZZ plant, the variety Raven® may be for you. Instead of dark green leaves, it features dark, purple-black foliage that opens up a contrasting lime green color.
